I’ve been wanting to head up to Mynydd Meio for a while after reading about a local legend.
Mynydd Meio is said to be haunted by Sini the story of which dates back 4 thousand years. She is a banshee and a guardian of entrances to other world. She can appear in 3 different guises - an old woman begging for help; a beautiful young lady inviting men to join her for ungodly delights or young and pathetic, lost alone. She apparently only goes after men of mixed blood - meaning Men who are part demon.
Apparently she is usually found by one of the fords washing the heads of the men she has lured to their demise.
Delightful.
So the moral of the story is to stay away from lone women on Mynydd Meio!
There is a car park at The Black Cock Inn (CF83 1BD) should you wish to reward yourself with a drink at the end. Otherwise Fforest Fawr is the closest car park and will add around a mile to the overall route.
